Coca-Cola’s new pixel-flavored Zero Sugar Byte aims to reach gamers in the metaverse. Earlier this year, the soft drink giant launched an outer space-flavored product. Now it’s continuing to up its technological game and broaden its appeal among younger, tech-savvy consumers by launching a pixel-flavored drink.
The company says it’s the first Coca-Cola flavor born in the metaverse and that it’s been hidden in plain sight. “An early look at the beverage appeared in a new island created in Fortnite,” Coca-Cola said.
Coca-Cola said it’ll release more limited edition beverages later this year, but the company expects Byte to be the drop of the season. Here’s what you need to know about the new Coke Byte.
The new product has existed longer online than in real life. It first appeared in late March on an island in the Fortnite video game. Just last month, the company announced a limited edition flavor called Coca-Cola Starlight, a red version of the iconic soda with flavor “inspired by space.” U.S. Customers can buy Byte online starting May 2, while supplies last. It’s available only in a two-pack and it will set you back around $15.
