Leading Indian entertainment and news website ScoopWhoop’s co-founder Suparn Pandey has been booked for a sexual assault.
A former employee of the company has alleged that Pandey tried to sexually harass her by touching her inappropriately and sending her explicit content.
In an FIR lodged against the accused, she has mentioned that earlier the complaint was also filed within the company administration but they paid no heed.
A police official has also stated that the FIR has been filed with investigations underway, but no arrests have been made yet.
On the other hand, ScoopWhoop in its statement has also said that the company’s internal committee has started an inquiry into the matter.
“As an FIR has also been filed separately by the complainant, and the police investigation is ongoing, we are extending full cooperation to the police to conduct a full and fair investigation into the matter.”
“We work towards ensuring a safe and secure workplace for all our employees and take any complaints of harassment extremely seriously. In line with workplace laws, ScoopWhoop has an internal complaints committee (ICC) which constitutes of two of our most senior and experienced women employees and an independent observer…”
Two other co-founders of the website were also named in the FIR lodged by the victim on March 27.
