And WhatsApp is up again for yet another feature update and this time it’s working to help enable administrators of group chats to silence thier group members.
So let’s be honest, we all love WhatsApp and we all could do with some updates to the instant-messaging mobile application.
Currently, the new feature is being tested on the application through which administrators can stop other members of a group from sending messages. On application of the feature in any member, he/she will not be able to send messages, images, videos, GIFs, documents or voice messages.
Known as the ‘Restricted Groups’ feature, it was spotted by WABetaInfo in beta versions of WhatsApp for iOS and Android.
The Restricted Groups option gives power to the group administrator to disable chat features and only admins can then talk to each other. It comes in handy when admins require the attention of the entire group.
A notification will appear which states the following:‘[Admin name] allowed only admins to send messages to this group.’
A blog by WEBetainfo further explained: ‘When administrators disable the chat features, only they can interact each other in the group: this may happen when an administrator wants to get the attention of all participants, writing something important or to organize an event.’
