Islamabad United beat Peshawar Zalmi by five wickets in the 12th match of Pakistan Super League (PSL) at Sharjah Cricket Stadium on Saturday.
Islamabad United’s opener Dwayne Smith played an outstanding inning for 72 runs and put his team on a winning position. Whereas, Muhammad Sami received the Man of the Match award for his outstanding performance, he took 3 wickets for 26 runs.
This was the third victory for Islamabad United, while Peshawar Zalmi have won two matches so far in the league till now.
Top scorer Eoin Morgan made 28 runs while skipper Darren Sammy and Wahab Riaz made 20 and 23 runs, respectively. However, Peshawar Zalmi kept losing wickets regularly and failed to build any momentum along with a defendable total.
Earlier, Islamabad United captain Misbah ul Haq won the toss and elected to field, giving Peshawar Zalmi to set a target, batting first.
Islamabad United made three changes, adding Amad Butt, Rumman Raees and Rafatullah Mohmand in the team and putting out Imran Khalid & Saeed Ajmal.
After the match, Peshawar Zalmi stand second on the point table, holding “5” points and “+0.457” NET RR. Whereas, Islamabad United has stepped its game to 4th position with “4” points having lowest NET RR of “-0.161”.
