One of the most important thing yet not highlighted by our media personal so far was Eidhi Sahib’s Funeral that was honoured by being given a gun carriage or carriage on wheels.
It’s a military tradition of state funerals inherited from British Royal Artillery which carried the coffin of Late Queen Victoria, in view of showing the heighest mark of respect and honour for the departed soul.
In Pakistan this tradition has only been carried forward for the 3rd time now. The 1st state funeral being conducted was of the Founding Father, Quaid e Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah. 2nd was General Zia’s funeral which was also given a Gun Carriage for being an Army Chief officer. This tradition is followed for the head of state, while in chair or Exceptional cases of National Heroes like Abdus Sattar Eidhi that a state funeral was arranged for the 3rd time in the history of Pakistan.
Abdul Sattar Edhi had set a mark in the eyes of all yoing and old, rich and poor! He not only melted all hearts with his departure but availed all respect one could have thought for such a noble human being.
