Apple has just announced that it will soon start charging customers in Pakistan in their currency, Pakistani Rupees, instead of the US dollars.
With the launch of this service, Pakistani users will be able to make their purchases and subscribe in their native currency. This way Pakistani Apple owners will be able to stock at least 3.5% currency exchange fee that banks impose on foreign currency transactions.
Apple is hoping that the change of currency will give a boost to its business in Pakistani Smartphone sector, as the purchases in local currency will become cheap and will give them the scope to buy more.
Moreover, developers who are working in Pakistan will also be paid in their local currency.
For now, the Cupertino Giant hasn’t announced the date and time of the launch of local payment service in Pakistan. However, it has been expected that it will roll out within next two weeks.
