Youth Parliament Pakistan is the first ever platform for Pakistani youth to showcase their potential and to flourish their inner talent. Founded on 14th August 2005, in Karachi, it has become the biggest youth forum with a grand membership volunteer network, which mandates to meaningfully involve young people at each and every level of program and policy development across Pakistan. Youth Parliament has been centric on its main objectives since years which include; becoming a platform for youth belonging to different backgrounds, to come together and voice their opinion, engage for nation building and becoming the future of Pakistan. It is a platform where future politicians and opinionated leaders are nurtured; and also acting as a bridge between youth and government authorities.
Youth Parliament is a brainchild of Mr. Muhammad Rizwan Jaffar who put the foundations of this model in the 100th episode of his famous youth talk show, “Café Vision”, which was broadcasted on Indus Vision TV Channel.
In its quest to empower the young generation, Youth Parliament has established different campaigns & projects designed to develop talented and ambitious youth, helping them grow to their full potential. For example, “Campus Drive” is an open platform for educational campuses; it’s the best replacement of student unions. “Youth Parliament Debate Council” acknowledges the best debaters of the country, on one platform, with an objective to train, grow & flourish. “Youth Parliament Scouts Group” opened doors for the world’s biggest volunteer movement scouting for the YP members. “School of Future Leaders” focuses on training the youth. “Youth Parliament Professional Forum” brings an opportunity for young top professionals to build their capabilities together, on one platform. “Youth Parliament Legislative Council” trains & prepares the youth to act as parliamentarians. Today, Youth Parliament is successfully working on 32 platforms (projects & campaigns). Youth Parliament declared in 2016 to work on “Climate Change”. In January, 2016, it organized four days grand event – “COY Pakistan” (Conference of Youth on Climate Change), which was further organized at different education institutions. Also, Youth Parliament has established a platform of environment focused group of youngsters by the name of “Youth Representative Club on Climate Change”.
In the end of 2016, Youth Parliament launched the Grand Campaign on Road Safety by the name of “FIT Road Safety Campaign”. The motive of this Campaign is to foster road safety knowledge & education in youth, because 95% of Road Accidents occur due to human fault & only 5% due to technical fault. Our motive is to follow the newly adopted 2030 agenda for sustainable development, which has set an ambitious road safety target of halving the global number of deaths and injuries from road traffic crashes by 2020.Road Safety refers to the methods and measures used to prevent road users from being killed or seriously injured. Typical road users include pedestrians, cyclists, motorists, vehicle passengers, and passengers of on-road public transport. Without action, road traffic crashes are predicted to rise and become the 7th leading cause of death by 2030, thus being an essential subject to view and acknowledge.
