Second wave of winter to hit Pakistan, starting next week

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (MET) has yet again announced another bout of winter, led by snowfall and heavy rain throughout the country. The prediction has been made for the incoming week.

Owing to the deterioration of weather, National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) and National Highway Authority (NHA) have issued a warning for all those travelling to hilly areas to strictly follow the issued directions. As per MET officials, a westerly wave is soon going to struck with rains and snowfall over hilly areas.

Furthermore, continuous rains can also lead to landslides in environment sensitive areas of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, and Gilgit-Baltistan, alongside floods in different areas of Balochistan. Similarly, concerned authorities dealing with the incidents have been ordered to stay active and alert to contradict such incidents and situations.

As far as Sindh is concerned, thunderstorms are also expected in some areas of the province on Tuesday or Wednesday. KPK will also have rain and snowfalls around the hills of Malakand, Hazara, and FATA on Wednesday and Thursday. Snowfall is also expected in Islamabad and Punjab between Monday and Thursday.

Thus, we can expect a week full of cold winds and extreme temperature, again.
