Teachers are an extremely important asset for any society as they are the ones who educate the youth; who in turn become leaders of the next generation and play an important role in developing their country as a good citizen.
But in our society, teachers are usually being persecuted, sometimes by the organizations and at times by the parents. Teachers are not getting the esteemed stature which actually this profession deserves; this is the big reason that our society is not progressing. When there is no respect for a teacher how can a society enjoy the taste of success?
THE PROPHET (P.B.U.H) SAID, “SEEK KNOWLEDGE AND TRAIN TO BE DIGNIFIED AND CALM WHILE SEEKING KNOWLEDGE, AND HUMBLE YOURSELVES WITH THOSE WHOM YOU LEARN FROM” (TABARAANI).
Despite the teachings of Islam, it is so pitiful to see the condition of teachers these days. Our children are being trained through these valuable hands – if a teacher scolds you or say you any word just complain about her/him to the higher authorities. This is the reason, misbehaving with teachers by the students is so common these days; forgetting the fact that teacher is a spiritual parent and parent has a right to rebuke their children for their betterment. One should remember that a teacher, like a parent, punishes you not out of hatred but love. When students are disciplined, credit is not being given to the teacher for their efforts, parents usually proclaim smugly that the child is learning good habits from home but if a child misbehaves or appears naughty; teachers are being targeted. What kind of justice is that?
One should not see teachers as enemies, for many great and famous people who have made it big in their life today give credit to their teachers. Every child has some qualities in them and according to them; everyone cannot be perfect in all subjects. In one class; there are some future doctors, engineers, singers, writers, painters, scientists. In this case, if a student is not getting good marks in any subject, it is out of his disinterest; so why a teacher is being blamed for his/her poor marks??? Why are we asking our children to adhere to this race? Why are we not trying to understand the individual differences? Why are we pressurizing teachers to give them good marks? Why?! In this state, teachers usually opt a safe way to give random marks to the students, to get away from the hassle of constant nagging by parents; this behavior is making the teachers cheat their respectable profession.
Thus, it has been rightly said that “children are the future of any country” and teachers play an important role in shaping their bright future. We should respect them for what they have done for us. It’s high time we understand the importance of teachers in our life.
A teacher usually gives her best to educate the students, but still parents need to understand that a teacher is not a superman; they have to deal with lots of things in the meantime. Learning doesn’t just happen at school, parents and guardians have to pay equal attention to their children’s upbringing.
