Pakistan Super League season 2 kicked off with grand affair in a star-studded ceremony. Soon after the opening ceremony, Peshawar Zalmi and Islamabad United faced off each other in the first match of the season and Darren Sammy led Peshawar Zalmi got defeated by Misbah-ul-Haq’s Islamabad United by 7 wickets.
The match opened with title defenders Islamabad United winning the toss, choosing to bowl first. Zalmi lost their first wicket by the hands of Muhammad Irfan on the very first ball, however the match turned as Kamran Akmal smashed consecutive sixes and fours within first five overs. Akmal grabbed 88 runs, marking the highest for team. But, the team lost back to back wickets, hindering what we expected as a total of 200 plus.

On the contrary, Islamabad United’s slow pace felt like a loss for the match, but the rain changed the play. After the overs were reduced, United players geared up for the performance and smashed the runs within no time.
Wicket-keeper batsman Brad Haddin played the star innings of 73 off 39 balls, while opener Dwayne Smith made 55 runs, eventually leading to the team’s victory.
Haddin was declared as man of the match for bagging tremendous runs in mere 39 balls.
Nonetheless, PSL 2’s first match was nail-biting feat of tremendous cricket and we can already gauge what bat & ball fun this season has in store for us.
