Germany expresses interest in buying PIA's A-310 aircraft

A museum in Germany has expressed its interest in buying PIA’s high-tech A-310 aircraft. The interest has been articulated after Pakistan International Airlines put up an advertisement indicating that the planes of the same version were up for sale.

Germany’s museum is interested in keeping the aircraft, along with the other international airlines, as a symbol of harmony and the airline’s presence in Europe. Bids are open on the plane and the final decision would be made after they are closed on December 12.

Apart from the mentioned bidding, it has also been revealed that PIA has acquired about 18 narrow body/fuel efficient aircraft in the period of 2 years. This has resulted in the better age of the aircrafts from 14 years to 9 years. Owing to this, the punctuality of the flights have also improved from 90% during 2016.

Furthermore, Express Tribune has quoted that the official Aviation Division has mentioned its record gross operating profit of Rs2.83 billion in the first quarter of 2015.

PIA has also obtained A-330-300 aircraft from Sri Lankan airlines.
