In one of its initiatives to make the platform more integrated among the masses, Facebook has memorialized late Mashal Khan’s profile, who was lynched by the mob at Abdul Wali Khan University of Mardan.
The mob had charged at the late Khan in the number of thousands, while he was hiding in his hostel room, in alleged blasphemy. The mob had tortured him, shot him twice, before tattering his clothes and exploding his skull. Since then, the incident has become all the rage on social media with people discussing how an innocent life has been lost.
In its quest, Facebook has authorized the profile with text reading:
“We hope that people who love Mashal Khan will find comfort in visiting his profile to remember and celebrate his life.”
Police officials have revealed that no evidence was found hinting in the favour of blasphemy, thus Mashal has been proved innocent. The officials are constantly hunting down the culprits with the help of various videos that have surfaced on the social media.
