Excessive use of Smartphones is as bad as using Cocaine

Everyday we are getting closer to our smartphones rather than being connected to people face to face. We spend every second of our day on phone. Whether its making calls, being connected on social media, checking emails, replying to people on Whatsapp, updating Snapchat. Every single thing is now being done through phone. Similarly the young kids starting from the age of 6 and on wards are also attached to smartphones. They are all watching cartoons, poems, games etc on phones. But did you know that giving your child a Smartphone is as Bad as using Cocaine? Yes, this is actually true.

According to Harley Street clinic director Mandy Saligari states that her 13 year old patients believe sharing explicit content over the phone is normal behavior. “Giving your child a smartphone is like giving them a gram of cocaine,” says top addiction therapist.

Excessive use of a smartphone can be just as dangerous as an addiction to drugs or alcohol. “I always say to people, when you’re giving your kid a tablet or a phone, you’re really giving them a bottle of wine or a gram of coke,” said a  therapist in a conference.

“Why do we pay so much less attention to those things than we do to drugs and alcohol when they work on the same brain impulses?”

“When people tend to look at addiction, their eyes tend to be on the substance or thing – but really it’s a pattern of behavior that can manifest itself in a number of different ways,” Ms Saligari said, naming food obsessions, self-harm and sexting as examples.
