Dozens of political workers of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) stormed the office of ARY News in Karachi on Monday.
The move comes shortly after MQM announced holding protests in front of news channels in protest against lack of coverage of the party’s ongoing sit-in at press club.
Angry MQM protesters surrounded the channel’s office at Madina Mall and tried to barge in to the building.
They reportedly broke the channel’s entry gate.
Gunshots were also heard in the area, where markets and shops were closed. Four people, including a policeman, have been wounded.
The workers have also caused damage to shops located in Zainab market in the Saddar area of the city forcing owners to close.
There are traffic jams in areas surrounding I.I.Chundrigar road, while the road leading to CM House has also been shut.
A Sindh Police spokesman said that Sindh IG has taken notice of violent attacks and firing at ARY News.
The IG also planned that protection at media offices across the city should be enlarged while sealing the red zone.
Murad Ali Shah has also taken the notice of this attack.
